Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJONATHAN REDHEAD It is with great sadness that the family of Jonathan Redhead announce his passing on October 21, 2017. Jonathan was born on November 6, 1925 in Sturgeon Lake, Manitoba to Roderick and Maryanne Redhead. As a young child, he was taught by his parents to live off the land. He loved to hunt, fish and trap. He continued to practice this way of life until he was no longer physically able to. He married Maria on October 13, 1947. Prior to her passing in August of 2016, they celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Jonathan worked for the Canadian National Railway and completed 36 years of service there. He served as a layreader in the Anglican Church in Churchill, Manitoba. He continued his involvement with the Anglican Church in Bird, Manitoba and then later in Thompson, Manitoba. He loved to spend time with his family. He had a great sense of humour, he loved to tease, joke and laugh. He had a kind, gentle soul. Left to mourn his passing are his children, Melinda Lavallee (Johnny), Roy, James (Agnes), John (Evelyn Spence), Alice, Marilyn Davignon (Jean), Jacqueline Fitzpatrick (Louis), Doreen (John Spence), and sister, Elizabeth Spence. He leaves behind many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren. Jonathan was predeceased by his wife Maria, his parents Roderick and Maryanne, brothers Johnson, George, John George and William; sister Denise Beardy; daughters Emerine Spence and Betty Redhead; brother-in-law Johnson Beardy; sisters-in-law Beatrice Wavey, Agnes Beardy and Louise Mayham; and grandchildren David Outchikat, Perly Spence and Luanne Redhead. Wake services were held on October 23 and 24. The funeral took place on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the Anglican Church in Thompson, Manitoba. The family would like to thank the following: all those who attended and assisted with the services and luncheon, the Fox Lake Cree Nation, Boardman Funeral Home, the Northern Spirit Manor, Thompson General Hospital, Reverends Martha Spence, Larry Beardy, Archie McKay and Jean Arthurson.
