Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySIDNEY WALDRON July 23, 1926 - October 27, 2017 Our dear father, Sid passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly on October 27, 2017 at the age of 91, at St. Boniface Hospital. Left to mourn are Joyce, his loving wife of 63 years; his children Edith (Laverne), Marlene (Ward), Douglas (Gloria), and his beloved grandchildren Allysa, Sean, Nicholas, Steven and Bryan. Sid was born in Cleobury Mortimer, Shropshire, England where he lived with his parents, brother Alan and sister Mary. Sid went to school in Hopton Wafers and later worked on the farm during the war years. Sid immigrated to Pine Falls, Manitoba in May 1949, joining his sister who had come as a war bride. Sid met and married Joyce Jane Burkett in Pine Falls in 1954 where they started their family with Edith. Sid worked as an auto mechanic and in 1955 the family moved to Erickson, Manitoba where Joyce had family roots. Sid worked at the Erickson Co-op service station, achieving his auto mechanic certification. The family expanded with the addition of Marlene and Douglas and enjoyed 11 years living in Erickson before deciding to move to St. Norbert, Manitoba. Sid undertook the work to become a Heavy Duty mechanic and worked for Kane Equipment, Manitoba Department of Highways and finally Case Equipment, retiring in 1985. Following official retirement he continued to work for many years on the farm of his dear friend Vern Klassen. Sid was in his element when it came to helping his "kids" with advice and labour as they set up their own households. Sid and Joyce enjoyed some wonderful trips to England, New Zealand, the Maritimes, and an Alaskan cruise. Sid always enjoyed golfing and was actively golfing into his 89th year. Sid was an active volunteer throughout his life be it the Lions Club, School Board, Condo Board or church committees, he was always ready to help. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Church, 933 Summerside Ave., Winnipeg on Saturday, November 18 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Church.

I recall visiting Great-uncle Sid and his family and we went to the zoo. That was when the Panda were at the Winnipeg Zoo and we got panda ice cream for the house ... I remember thinking it was soooo weird because the ice cream came in bricks, and back home they only came in tubs. Sorry for your loss. I've been trying to find the family on social media but have come up short. Jackie Gold-Irwin, Mary's Grandaughter - Posted by: Jackie (Great-niece) on: Jun 09, 2020

Sid was in the Tuesday study group, where we became friends.. He was a kind soul, who was always there when anything needed to be done at our church. Saying "Hi Sid ", was a start to every Sunday and was returned with his nice smile. He will be remembered dearly!❤ - Posted by: Connie Filion (Trinity United Church Family) on: Nov 15, 2017
