KENNETH JACK RERIE It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Jack Rerie on October 25, 2017 at the age of 89 years. Ken was born in Winnipeg on June 29, 1928, and was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Mary. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife Frances, sons William and Grant (Valerie), his niece Lorraine Doherty (Nick), grandchildren Angela (Lyle) Gonczy, children Devyn, Dylan and Brady; Jeff (Kendra) Rerie, children Payton and Maksym; Brandon (Melanie) Rerie, children Lyric and Nova; and Jessica Barsky, nephews Ron, Jim and Tom, niece Eileen, and grandnephews Keith and Jonathan. Ken spent his entire working career with the Canadian Grain Commission. Following his retirement, he pursued his lifelong passion for woodworking through his own company "Rerie's Specialties in Wood". Singing was also an important part of his life including church choirs and many years with the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir. One of his favourite hobbies was model ship building of which he was a master. His donation of the model Nonsuch is on permanent display in the Manitoba Museum. Ken and Fran spent a good portion of retirement living along the Whitemouth River at Seven Sisters, MB where much of his family originated and he spent many enjoyable years as a young man. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ken's life will be held at Sherwood Park Lutheran Church, 7 Tudor Crescent on November 3, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's name may be made to the Manitoba Museum or charity of choice.
