JEAN (EVELYN) BURLA With heavy hearts we share the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Jean left us peacefully on October 29, 2017, surrounded by those who loved her. Jean was born on October 3, 1950 in Russell, and grew up on her family's farm in Millwood, Manitoba with her parents Ena and John Wondrasek, and her two brothers David and Jim. She attended Millwood School and later Russell High School, where she met the love of her life Don. After high school Jean moved to Winnipeg, and soon she and Don were married. In 1978 they welcomed their daughter, Lisa, and in 1980 their second, Laura, along with many dogs, and a rabbit. Over the years her family grew to include her beloved grandson Lukas, and her two sons-in-law Aaron and Chris. Jean was predeceased by her dad and mom, John and Ena Wondrasek, her father-in-law, Neil Burla, and her brother-in-law, Ken Pollock. She leaves behind her loving husband Don, daughters Lisa (Chris) Pratt and Laura (Aaron Maple), grandson Lukas Maple, brothers David (Rosemarie) and Jim (Emily), mother-in-law Anne Burla, brothers-in-law Rob (Alex) Burla, Reg (Gloria) Burla, Randy Burla, and sister-in-law Dianne Pollock, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Jean's smile was infectious, and is what she will most be remembered for. She loved music, and couldn't stop herself from dancing when a good song came on. She loved animals, and she and Don spent a great many hours watching the deer at the park. She was always challenging herself to try out new things, like painting, crafts, home decorating, and was never afraid to try something new. She was devoted to her family, and there was nothing more important to her than her loved ones. She loved taking part in her childrens', and then grandchild's, activities, from school, to sports, to public speaking, to graduations, and everything in between. One of her passions was camping, and she spent every summer travelling the countryside with Don, on new adventures. Jean's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff at the Grace Hospital, as well as Donna, David and Rosemarie, for their care and support for both Jean and her family throughout her passing. "Love you Bunches and Bunches" A celebration of Jean's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean's name can be made to either the Winnipeg Humane Society or The Alzheimer Society of Manitoba in support of Dementia research.
