IRENE JEAN KIRBY 1931 - 2017 On Friday, October 27, 2017 our dearest Mother, Nana, Grand Nana and Auntie quietly slipped away to be with the Lord. She leaves to join her beloved husband Raymond whom she missed desperately. With heavy hearts are her son, Kirk (Jessie) and daughter Cynthia Sobczak (John). Lovingly remembered with fond memories are her grandchildren, Megan McFadden (Brad), Russel Vokey (Shelley), Kirk Kirby Jr. and Jaclyn Christiansen (David). She was grand nana to her seven great-grandchildren, Maya, Wesley, Cadence, Owen, Emily, Everett and Spencer. Mom will also be missed by her "special" niece Betty Bender (Ric), and several more nieces and nephews. This was a difficult time for our mother. Her elegance and eccentric nature helped her to persevere for 11 years after losing Ray. The family has decided for a private "celebration of her life". In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to CJNU 93.7 FM radio station or the Winnipeg Humane Society. "For all the ways she truly loved God, please reward her Lord-

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • So sorry to hear of Irene’s passing. Today the Christmas card I sent her was returned. I knew something was wrong. Although we hadn’t seen each other in years, we always had our yearly update at Christmas. She was so much fun to work with. Ran every lunch hour, putting all of us to shame. I know she missed Ray terribly. Well she is with him now. In her letters to me at Christmas she told me all the updates, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was so proud. When we worked together, she would tell me of having tea parties with her grandchildren. Sympathy to your family. • My deepest condolences to all the family, especially Cynthia who I have known for years, remember as long as she is in your heart, she is never far away. - Posted by: Janice Blain (Friend to daughter Cynthia) on: Nov 03, 2017

  • I have fond memories of the Kirby family. Irene was indeed a beautiful and elegant lady. She had excellent culinary skills and always looked twenty years younger than her actual age. She was devoted to her friends and always stayed in touch with my mother (Vivian) over a seventy year period. We enjoyed sharing some special memories with her son Kirk and daughter Cynthia. Some of my fondest memories were our families getting together and cottaging at Willow Island. She is now with your Dad Ray and is watching over you. Irene is finally at peace. - Posted by: Tracy Semmer Kloos & Peter Kloos (Family friend) on: Nov 02, 2017
