  • I am sorry to hear that Fred "Mr. Jost" has passed. For twenty years of my childhood I knew him as a very kind person. I watched him being a sweet and gentle father/husband. He was one of the rare adults who treated me with respect and caring...willing to just sit and talk to me...that my thoughts mattered, even though I was just a child! My sincere condolences to you, Rick and Bill. Barb (Milley) Benning - Posted by: Barb Milley- Benning (Friend) on: Nov 16, 2017

  • Fred was a fantastic boss. I first worked for Fred as a summer student almost 50 years ago. He gave me a challenging project and all the flexibility in the world to pursue it. Later I worked for him full-time and he let me, a junior engineer, run one of the most important projects of my career. Fred was enthusiastic about engineering technology and a role model of responsibility in our professional organization and in promoting the interests of engineers within Manitoba Hydro. He thought outside the box and assembled a fascinating crew of capable and creative people. He fought to ensure his staff were recognized and had opportunities to excel. While the word "Telsa" is now primarily a marketing brand, Fred had a passion to understand the mysteries that the real Nikola Tesla left behind. In spite of Fred's dedication to his work, he set an example in establishing a line between his work and his home life. Fred made major contributions to his profession and to helped to create a supportive and effective working environment which many of us remember with great fondness. - Posted by: Dan Prowse (fellow MH employee) on: Nov 07, 2017

  • Sorry to hear of his passing. I have many nice memories of him as I worked in Fred's area at Manitoba Hydro from 1975 until his retirement and later enjoyed meeting him and Toni when they were walking in the St Vital mall on their way to breakfast at Moxi's - Posted by: Barry Malowanchuk (Workmate at Manitoba Hydro) on: Nov 03, 2017
