Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN ANTHONY BOWDEN December 12, 1932 - November 1, 2017 Tony died on November 1, 2017 leaving behind his beloved wife and friend Helga; his daughters, Jennifer (Scott) Burnett and Caroline (Andrew) Cortens, and their mother Joanne, with grandchildren Jaye, Kelsey, Kevin Burnett and Cameron, Maegan, Teresa and Isabel Cortens, also brother-in-law Peter Kargl with his children Michael (Tory) and Anita Kargl and children Zoe, Jamie, and brothers Terry and Doug in the U.K. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Helga Kargl. Tony was born and educated in the U.K. becoming a Chartered Accountant in 1956 with Price Waterhouse. A year later greener pastures beckoned and he joined P.S. Ross (now Deloitte and Touche) in Montreal. Like many immigrants he was restless and in 1959 joined Bristol Aeroplane Company of Canada - mainly because it sounded more interesting than the other offers he received. This started a 40 year career in aerospace with Bristol and Rolls-Royce Groups in Winnipeg, Montreal, and New York, with a variety of positions, culminating in the presidency of Bristol Aerospace Ltd. in Winnipeg. In 1989 Tony retired for the first time but then spent almost 10 happy years as a consultant with Harris Consulting. Tony and Helga were keen hikers and rambled on many trails in the European Alps, New England, and here at home. He and Helga explored many wine growing regions in Italy, France, Alsace and Austria. Tony was a nature lover in the broadest sense but with a particular fondness for birds and animals, all this topped off by a love of good music, good books, good wine and good scotch, and snooker at the Manitoba Club with Don Swanson. An enjoyable life... Sorry to have to leave it! Cremation has taken place and at Tony's request, there will be no memorial service. Death leaves a heartache No one can heal Love leaves a memory No one can steal
