RAMONA MARGUERITE KOVAL July 27, 1935 November 1, 2017 Ramona Marguerite Koval passed away peacefully on November 1, 2017 at the age of 82 at the Wm. George Extended Care in Sioux Lookout, Ontario surrounded by her family. She was born in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta moving to Sioux Lookout in her younger years then onto Pickle Lake where she resided until moving to Sioux Lookout in 2016. Her life's passion was in her kitchen cooking and preparing the best of food for family and anyone that came through the door. Her cooking career began at the Pickle Lake Forestry cookery and later leading to operating, managing and owning the Winston Motor Hotel. It wasn't beyond her to cater or host any gathering not to mention the many kitchen parties, the more the merrier was her motto. The motor home was the cabin on wheels for her and Billy from coast to coast and from Koval Springs to the Mexican border. Mother was happiest spending time making cabbage rolls and perogies for family and friends, specializing in holiday celebrations. Always dedicated to her family, she will be dearly missed by her children Gwenda (Ivan) Wilson, Patricia (Jimmy) Hickey, Norma, Douglas (Sally Rose) and Winston (Tina) Koval, 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins, her sisters Margery, Reta, Patricia and Louise, her sisters-in-law Caroline, Bunny and Rose. She was predeceased by her husband Billy, parents David and Winnifred Hooker, her sister Barbara and brother Jack. Many thanks to all the visitors during our mother's short stay at Wm. George Extended Care. Sincere thanks to Dr. O'Driscoll, the Extended Care and Sioux Towers supportive staff for their help in our time of need. A Memorial service will be at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Sioux Lookout on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 11:00 am with Muriel Anderson officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at the Pineridge Cemetery in Pickle Lake. Donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Meno Ya Win Health Centre Foundation through Sioux Lookout Funeral Home, Box 1449, Sioux Lookout, ON P8T 1B9.

  • The years have gone by fast. I met Ramona and Barb when they were going to St. Mary's Academy in Wpg. On weekends they used to come and stay with Sister Marge - who I lost contact with eventually - the girls always used my bed when went away on weeks. I was sorry to read of Barb's passing, last I heard she was going into nursing. Was great knowing them, Mona was so quiet but Barb made up for that - Great Girls all three of them Sincere condolences to Mona's family - she will be missed - and a Hello to Marg, Marg had spent several weeks at my hometown at that time as well God Bless Mona - Posted by: Diane McMillan (friend in 1952 ) on: Nov 06, 2017
