REGINA SHUTE (nee OBERTH) August 9, 1925 - November 2, 2017 After a well lived life, Mom passed away peacefully at the age of 92. Left with heavy hearts and wonderful memories are her children, Jan (Doug Harvey), Ken (Barb), Gord (Karen) and Joanne (Rene Sergerie), grandchildren Meghan (Brendan McCurry and great-grandson Conor), Lindsay, Lauren, T.C., Nickaela (Kevin Pfeifer and great-granddaughter Alexis), Katie and Tristan. Reggie was married 59 years to her lifelong partner, best friend and our loving dad, Bill Shute who passed away in 2008. Regina also leaves her sister Hildy (George) McCormack of Victoria, brother Ron (Flip) Oberth of Toronto, sister-in-law Louise Buckspan of Dallas, nieces and nephew. She was predeceased by her parents Carl and Regina Oberth, and her sister Sara Oberth (Lloyd Stubbs). Hildy and Sara were her best friends. Mom was born in Saros, Transylvania and made the long journey to Winnipeg at the age of four years old. Mom started her career at Great West Life and later resumed her work life at Eaton's after raising her family. She was also a very active member of the East Kildonan Y into her 89th year. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and her family was always her number one priority. Mom, Dad and family enjoyed many years at the Brereton Lake family cottage. Reggie was affectionately known as the Brereton Lake Stomper for her love of life, enthusiasm and being the "best" dancer on the lake. Mom and Dad also enjoyed many years of travel making lifelong friends wherever their adventures took them. In later years, Mom and her three siblings shared a wonderful week at Brereton Lake every summer bonding, reminiscing with neighbours and enjoying their rich friendship. Reggie always had a twinkle in her eye, a smile on her face and a warm hug for family and friends. Mom loved being with her family and her most treasured times were having happy hour together followed by a pizza party or dinner at the Plaza. We give special thanks to the wonderful nurses and caregivers at St. Joseph's Personal Care Home for their compassion and kindness. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to FortWhyte Alive (www.fortwhyte.org) or a charity of your choice.

As well as to sister Hildy (George) and brother Ron (Flip), sister-in-law Louise. We also extend our deepest sympathies to her grandchildren Meghan (Brendan great-grandson Conor) Lindsay, Lauren, T.C, Nickaela (Kevin and great-granddaughter Alexis), Katie and Tristan and nieces and nephews. We came to know Reggie only in recent years through our son Brendan when he and Meghan started dating. They ended up only a few blocks away from Grandma Reggie when they bought their first home! She was always mentioned with extreme fondness in any of our inquiries. She was such a warm person always with a smile on her face! It was apparent her family was the center of her universe and time spent together was precious to her. Our last memory of Reggie was at Meghan and Brendan's wedding where she seemed so very happy to be surrounded by her loving family! Her gentle smile and love shone bright whenever she engaged in conversation with them all young and old! Bless you Reggie! 🙏🏼 May you rest in peace now❣ - Posted by: Susan & Paul McCurry (In-laws (daughter Meghan married to our son Brendan McCurry)) on: Nov 15, 2017
