Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALFRED J. YANUSZEWSKI September 8, 1938 - November 7, 2017 With great sadness we announce the passing of Alfred Yanuszewski on November 7, 2017. Al was born just outside Neepawa, Manitoba, raising his own family in Winnipeg but making Kenora his home for the last 30 years. While he had a brief period working for Manitoba Hydro, Al's true calling was teaching. He graduated from University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Education. While most of his years were spent teaching in Winnipeg, his teaching career also took him to Kenora, Fort Simpson, NWT and the island of St. Lucia. Those who had the pleasure of working with Al knew that he always found a way to connect with students through humour. The love of the lake brought Al to Kenora. Summers were spent on the houseboat, and Al was the quintessential host. He loved to entertain and cook, always making sure that his guests had everything they needed. Al was a good friend, quick to lend a helping hand when there was a job to be done. Al was always prepared for everything. With his stash of "back-up" supplies, including hardware, groceries, and paper products, there was never a chance of running out of anything. Al was predeceased by his parents, Barbara and Kasmir Yanuszewski, his brothers Ben and Henry, and sisters Anne and Marion. Al was also predeceased by his wife, Beverley Yanuszewski (Norlen). He will be missed by his sisters Bridget and Helen, his son John, daughter Maureen, stepdaughter Ainsley (Jeff), stepsons Kurt (Barbara) and Chris, stepgranddaughters Olivia and Georgia, numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friends. Prayers will be said on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre with visitation to follow. Al's family would like to thank Dr. Beveridge, Dr. B. Kyle, Dr. Thomas and the staff at Pinecrest for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lake of The Woods District Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. To John and Maureen, I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your father. He was such a big man in stator, spirit, and caring. He was alway kind, and considerate, even when we were getting into trouble. Some of my fondest memories were of the journeys your father would take us on to get material for his next project. I always felt your father was teaching us something new, and yet I never heard him brag about his previous accomplishments, of which he had many.
