OREST GINGERA It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Orest Gingera on November 10, 2017, in Langley, British Columbia, at the age of 81. Orest is survived by his sister, Frances; daughters, Jane (Michael) and Emily (Matthew); and his grandchildren, Christian, Grayson, Chevonne, and Grace. Orest was born in Pulp River, Manitoba, in 1936, and spent most of his childhood in Birch River, and the majority of his adult life in Winnipeg, moving to British Columbia in his later years. Orest was a dedicated school teacher and principal, most notably as Principal of Beaverlodge Elementary before retiring in 1999. He was an intelligent man and enjoyed expanding his knowledge of history, politics, and space. Orest's pride and joy was his children and grandchildren, and his home was filled with photos and mementos of his family. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Breakfast Club of Canada.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I consider myself fortunate to have been a colleague (Westgrove School) and friend. Orest's warmth and good nature shone through when interacting with the children in his care or with staff. He was careful and thoughtful and tried to solve issues amicably for all. He became a doting parent when daughters, Emily and Jane came along and he spoke of them always with love and great pride. I am happy to have shared some of the path through this life with Orest. He was a true gentleman and a good friend. Goodbye my friend.
