LESLIE JEAN MARIE ALLEN (VAN GAANS) January 2, 1959 - October 21, 2017 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Leslie after a long and lengthy battle with diabetes. Leslie was predeceased by her parents Adrian and Helen, father-in-law James, and mother-in-law Margret. Leslie is survived by her loving husband Dennis and will be lovingly remembered by her three children Joe (Jodi), Jeff (Jenelle), Kristi, and grandchildren Matthew, Taylor, Paige; Brooke, Braedan, Jenisha and Brody. She is also survived by her sister Sandra (Jim) Semkiw; sisters-in-law; Sandra, Dianne and Brenda. Leslie was born in New Westminster, BC and grew up in Port Alberni. She later moved to Terrace, BC, where she raised a family with her husband before settling in Winnipeg. Leslie enjoyed spending quality time with her friends and family, and long motorcycle rides with her husband. Leslie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff at Concordia Hospital and in the ICU for providing wonderful, compassionate care. If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Winnipeg Humane Society. At Leslie's request, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date.
