ALICE KUCZER (nee ASCOLI) It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Kuczer on Friday, November 17, 2017, at the age of 80. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years, Metro (Matt), her son Mike and daughter-in-law Bonney and her daughter Patty Simpson and son-in-law Joe, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Alice was born in Glenella, MB on February 9, 1937 to Bertha and Arthur Ascoli. The family, including brothers, Walter and Henry and sister Anne, eventually moved to Woodridge, MB, where they lived for many years. After finishing school, Alice moved to Winnipeg, where some years later she met Metro Kuczer and they were married in 1960. In 1961, they moved to a home in Transcona, where they raised their family and still reside today. Alice was an avid and talented crafter in almost every type of craft, from knitting and crocheting to plastic canvas, sewing and quilting. Our houses are adorned with her handiwork and we will cherish all these wonderful memories of her. Growing up, Patty had the best dressed Barbies in town, as almost all the clothes were lovingly made by her mom. She was also a great cook and baker. The family would like to thank the staff at Middlechurch Home for the care over the last many months, especially rehab assistant May, hairdresser April and nurses, Heidi and Princess you all made her days a little brighter. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street, Winnipeg, MB. Viewing to take place one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, donations can be made in Alice's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Parkinson Canada, Winnipeg Humane Society or any charity of your choice.
