SUSAN GOLTSMAN It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Susan Karen Robinson Goltsman on November 11, 2017. She was 54 years old. Susan was born on March 16, 1963 in St. Louis, Missouri, United States; the third child of Martin and Edis Robinson. After living in Edinburgh, Scotland, and Palo Alto, California, she was primarily raised in the United States in San Jose, California. She was educated at Schallenberger Elementary, Harker Academy and Presentation High School. She had her Bat Mitzvah at Temple Emanuel in San Jose. After participating in a summer French immersion program at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Susan moved to Winnipeg, where she lived with her grandparents Max and Molly Shore. She worked at her grand-father's company, Rice Sportswear, a local manufacturing company. On a blind date she met the love of her life, Samuel Goltsman. They were married at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue during a blizzard on December 23, 1984. The couple have two daughters Shera, now married to Bryon Chochinov, and Ronit. Two years ago, Susan was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Despite a heroic fight on her part and the extraordinary support of her family, including a STEM Cell Transplant at Stanford Medical Center, Susan succumbed to the disease. Susan will be remembered for many things. As a young person she enjoyed tennis and skiing; as an adult boating, water skiing, fishing, all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiling. She had a mathematical mind and loved card games, backgammon and electronic poker. Always proud of her Jewish heritage she was a lifetime member of Bnai Brith Women and participated in holidays with her family. She was adventurous, loved to travel, and visited Israel, Mexico, Jamaica, Great Britain, and various parts of Canada and the United States. She loved animals, especially her dogs Winnie, Fingers and Lefty. She was extremely down to earth and unpretentious. She loved everyone she met. She had a warm personality, loved to dance, sing, laugh and be with her family. Susan will be sorely missed by her family and friends including her brother-in-law Brent Goltsman and his family; sister-in-law Marla Goltsman Henden and her family; son-in-law Bryon Chochinov and his family; sister Diane Hendricks and her family; brother Nathan Robinson; and brother Jacob Robinson (to whom she was particularly close); parents Martin and Edis Robinson; daughters (and friends) Shera Chochinov and Ronit Goltsman; and especially by her beloved husband of 32 years Sam Goltsman. May Susan's memory be for a blessing.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My heart, I miss you every day and still can’t believe you are gone. It feels like a part of me died on 11/11/17 and it did, it was the best part of me, you. We shared so much as children, helped each other through the hard times, laughed through the good times ( there were many of those, thank god). Through it all we were there for each other. I am forever grateful that you are part of my life and always will be. I love you more than I can express here. You will be with me wherever life takes me. I am a better person because of you. - Posted by: Jacob Robinson (Brother) on: Feb 28, 2019

  • Mom, you were always my hero in my books. I will always remember on how you got to calm me down before going for surgery. I will always remember the good times we had together. Just want to say that we miss you and you will always be in our hearts. - Posted by: Shera Chochinov (Daughter) on: Jan 09, 2019
