Date of Passing: Nov 16, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD PETER GORDON It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Gordon, 76, on November 16, 2017. He will be missed by his wife Allison Baird, their daughters, Natalie and Alex, his daughters, Ariel (Mike Deal), Gillian (Noah Baird) and Andrea (Iain Cameron), their mother Karin, sister Katie Matheson, sister-in-law Peggy, and grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents, Jane and Harvey, brother Barry and brother-in-law John. Peter, known for his fairness and problem-solving skills, had a long career as the secretary-treasurer of the Assiniboine South School Division. He loved food, conversation and good company, and had a fondness for craft beer and red wine. He learned bridge at a young age and was a life-long player. In winter he skate-skied and played hockey; during the summer he played tennis, windsurfed, and spent time at the cabin in Minaki, surrounded by family. A big music fan, Peter especially loved Oysterband, The Traveling Wilburys and Stan Rogers. After retirement, he spent a year in England, playing tennis on grass courts, attending music night at the local pub and travelling around Europe. Although Peter had a long battle with Parkinson's Disease and dementia, he never lost his grace, gentle disposition and emotional intelligence. The family will always be grateful for the love offered by friends, John and Vicki, Barb and Francis, Corine and Rob, Joe, Brian and relatives, as well as the 2B staff at Riverview Health Centre. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 27 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Unitarian Church, 603 Wellington Cres. Donations to the Memorial Garden at the Unitarian Church would be appreciated. Contributions to either the West End Cultural Centre or the music program at Misericordia Hospital would also be fitting.

Many memories of Peter, but one of my favorites is how we used to watch or talk sports when I visited, and it would drive Allison mad. I hope there can be some good spirit at the memorial, Peter would have wanted that. I'm sorry I cannot make it, but I will go down to the boat club here and have a drink for Peter. Hugs from Dubs xoxo - Posted by: Brea () on: Nov 26, 2017
