VIOLET IRENE ELIZABETH HOOPER February 13, 1925 November 14, 2017 With her family at her side we announce with heavy hearts the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother Vi Hooper on November 14, 2017. She was predeceased by her loving husband Ed Hooper, her parents John and Miriam Wright, her brother Robert, her son-in-law Carl Kurnyek and great-grandson Bauer Scheppner. She will be sadly missed and kept in the hearts of her four daughters, Grace (Ermel), Muriel Kurnyek, Joyce (Bob) Melnyk, Valerie (Bill) Blair; her four sons, John (Jane), Don (Louise), Ron (Pat) and Joe (Kim); her 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Mom was born in Winnipeg on February 13, 1925 but lived in Gladstone, MB. It was there that she met and married Dad in 1945 and in 1955 they moved from their small farm in Mayfield to Winnipeg. Mom had a big heart and her life was about family. She was a stay-at-home Mom who not only raised her children but was a place of safety for over 25 years for Child and Family Services taking in and caring for 65 children. There was always a full house that she would happily cook for. She took everyone into her heart and taught us about family. In accordance with Mom's wishes cremation has taken place. A graveside service at Gladstone Cemetery will take place at a later date. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Deer Lodge Rehab Centre, Oakview Place and the Doctors and Nurses at H.S.C. Emergency.
