DELBERT (DEL) JONATHAN TERRY, AIIC May 10, 1937 - November 25, 2017 Peacefully Dad's journey came to an end, with his family by his side. Dad was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers Bob and Leroy. He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his beloved wife of 60 years, Flo, his children Kim (Craig), Marty (Hilda) and Donna (Bruce), eight grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, Cory (Kelsey), Alyssa (Darcy), Myranda, Syrena, Joshua and Rybecca, seven great-grandchildren, Madison, Kylie, Kaiden, Brennen, Liam, Cody and Ava. Dad also leaves broken hearted Darcie (Brad) Ineck and family and Teresa (Doug) Gibbens. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Gordon (Bonnie), Clifford (Bev), sisters-in-law Eileen and Margaret, and many nieces and nephews. Dad started his career in the mailroom at Canadian Pool Agencies and with a lot of dedication and determination and increased responsibility he became a senior insurance underwriting manager, retiring from Milnco Insurance February 14, 2002. Dad was able to design, build, or repair anything. He was a jack of all trades and master of most of them. He was a quiet and humble man and inspired us with his values of humility, kindness, and a strong work ethic. He enjoyed rebuilding the cottage at Winnipeg Beach room by room, playing crib. crossword puzzles, hunting, fishing, camping and taxidermy. Dad was a champion archer in which he won many tournaments and numerous trophies. He was involved in the community teaching archery, being an Akela at Cubs, volunteering at Kent Road School and supporting us in various events. Dad was a very loyal and dedicated family man. This was clearly demonstrated by the unwavering and unconditional love and care he showed for our mom the last seven years. Despite our dad's illness, to which he never once complained, he continued to go to the nursing home to be with our mother every single day. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 708 McCalman Ave. with Pastor Schoubye officiating. Private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. You may have left this world but you will live on forever in our hearts.

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • To the Delbert and Flo Terry families. Sympathies to all your family. We had not heard of your father’s passing until now. Our son asked if Grandpa Bob still had a living sibling so as we were searching for where your parents used to live, we came across your dad’s obituary. I am Bob’s son, Gordon, and still living in the Minitonas area. It was great to have visited with your parents, a couple of times in Winnipeg, as well as when they had come to Minitonas. Sad to hear that he has passed away and it sounds like your mom is in care - so our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. If you’re ever out this way, please feel free to contact us. It would be great to meet you. Take care. Gord and Marg Terry - Posted by: Gordon Terry (Nephew) on: Dec 26, 2018

  • Our condolences to the family. We have many fond memories of our “beach time” which included KR staff parties, Canada Day celebrations and our tent warming party just too many fun times to mention. Would always be welcomed in Flo and Dell’s house and cottage with open arms, wine and home baked goodies. Always eager to share a laugh, lend an ear and help out with home reno advice. We shall miss you 😘 - Posted by: Bonnie and Roy (Friends) on: Dec 06, 2017
