Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUSSELL LAINE SLOBODZIAN August 11, 1961 - November 24, 2017 After a morning pickle ball game in Mesa, Arizona, we lost our Russ. He was born in Winnipeg and lived in Headingley for most of his life. He worked for nine years at CPR, followed by a very successful real estate career. In the last few years he spent his days crunching numbers and project managing at Sabre Industries. He loved making people laugh, singing along to really loud music and starting new projects. He loved days in the garden, on the fishing boat or cruising on his Harley. Russ will be lovingly remembered by his soul-mate and love of his life Judy LeRoye, daughters Amy Morgan, Emily Caitlin, and JoJo (his canine companion). He is survived also by the mother of his children, Celia. He will be dearly missed by his mother Pat; siblings, Sheila Olenka Bilash (Edm), Donald (Donna) (Springstein), Shirl Smith, and his six nieces and nephews; as well as his Kobie and Kane, whom he adored. He was predeceased by his father Stefan in 1997, and many loved aunts and uncles. There will be a celebration at the Headingley Community Centre on December 7 at 1:30 p.m.

I am so sorry for your loss, to Russ's family and to my dear friend Judy, the happiness and love you shared with each other in the last couple of months was admirable to see, I knew you were both so happy. I hope you can take some comfort in knowing he not only told you "everyday" how much he loved you but showed you in so many different ways, "cooking special meals, flowers, doing things without you asking etc. He was loving and kind to you in his ways, and happy with your love to the end of his days. He will be missed. - Posted by: Sharon Johnson (Friend to Judy) on: Dec 06, 2017

I was so sad to hear of Russell's death. I have so many memories of him; from bus rides to school to sharing the dishwashing area at Breezy Bend CC. Celia caught the bouquet at my wedding 33 years ago. Pat I will try to come see you when I am in Winnipeg next time so we can share some stories. I pray for God to give you strength during this difficult time. - Posted by: Marlene Nehring Watts (Neighbour and childhood friend) on: Dec 03, 2017

Dear family. So sorry to learn of Russell's untimely passing in the Free Press this morning. Met Russ about 1988 and worked beside him in the real estate business for several years. Got to know many of his family as well during those times. Always liked him and could tell when he was nearby by his very characteristic and raspy voice. He enjoyed life for sure and was fun to be around. He was a character who will be missed. My deepest sympathy. Regret that I will be unable to attend the Celebration of Life.
