DOROTHY EILEEN BERGMAN (SHARPE) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Dorothy Eileen Bergman (Sharpe) of Winnipeg. Mom passed away peacefully, in her sleep, on November 29, 2017 in White Rock, BC. She was born to Edward and Mae Sharpe on January 13, 1931 in Pine Falls, MB. She was one of eight children, predeceased by her sister Helen, brothers George, Dennis and Gerald, and is survived by her brothers William (Marion) and David, and her sister Hope. Mom married Denis Bergman (who predeceased her in 1972) and together they had six children, Delle (Ted) Napper of Saskatoon, Shelley Bergman of Winnipeg, Hugh Bergman of Vancouver, David (Eileen) Bergman of Winnipeg, Derrick Bergman of Vancouver and Nancy (Mark) Bergman of California. Mom adored all of her grandchildren, Michael (Christine) Napper, Christopher (Casey) Napper, Lindsey Napper, Steven (Kate) Akman, Genna and Krista Bergman and Nikolai Bergman. Mom was also blessed with many wonderful nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren. Mom enjoyed a competitive game of bridge, golfing, tennis and travelling with family and friends. Mom also loved to cook and she was legendary for her incredible dinner parties. Mom was proud of being a member of "Daughters of the Nile". Some of her most cherished times were with family, friends and relatives at Star Lake in the summers where she welcomed anyone and everyone who came to the door. Although Mom went through many physical setbacks in recent years she bravely fought through these with her determined resilience. She had unwavering support and love from her family during this period which made her final years as comforting as possible. We would also like to thank her amazing caregivers at the Residence of Morgan Heights. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Red Cross. The family will be having a celebration of life at a later date. "God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be so He put His arms around you and whispered, "Come to Me". With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away and although we loved you dearly we could not make you stay A golden heart stopped beating hard working hands at rest God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best."

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I knew Eileen my entire life. However, I called her "Olivia" after Olivia Newton-John given her use of colourful headbands on the tennis courts at Victoria Beach. My mother, Maureen, and Olivia enjoyed a special relationship that lasted decades. Their support for each other was unconditional. There are so many awesome stories to share, so many laughs. I will share this one. Once, when visiting the Bergman cottage at Star Lake I was awoken to the loud banging of pots and pans. I came out of my room to witness Olivia confronting a bear in her kitchen with pot and muffin pan. This is how I will remember her...fearless, formidable and fun. All my love to the family. - Posted by: Jeff Swystun (Family Friend) on: Dec 04, 2017
