THOR SIGURDSON It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Thor Sigurdson on December 1, 2017, with his family by his side. Thor was predeceased by his parents, Siggi and Gwen, and brother, Konrad. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marvis, and his sons and their families: Ryne (Shirlee), Darrell and Dennis; Kaol (Sherri), Tyler and Blake, and Kardi, Geordi and Kevin. He is also survived by his sister, Kathie, brother, Rick, and numerous nieces and nephews. Thor was born in Winnipeg and attended school in Gimli and Winnipegosis. He continued his education at the Manitoba Teacher's College and the University of Manitoba. Thor taught school in Portage la Prairie, Glenboro, Deloraine, Emerson and Dominion City. Over the years, Thor enjoyed barbershop singing, curling and, especially, square dancing. In keeping with Thor's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will not be a formal service. Family and friends are invited to a time of remembrance and sharing of memories on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the St. Norbert Community Centre, 3450 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3, or a charity of one's choice.
