GEORGE MILLER HENDERSON After a lengthy illness, our dear dad, grandpa, brother and uncle passed away on December 4, 2017. Predeceased in 2011 by his loving wife of 52 years, Lina (nee Keryluk) his "Polish Princess", and eldest daughter Heather Cardinal in 2007, George is survived by his daughter Helen Coughlin (Michel Surprenant), son Yogi (also known as George Miller Henderson), grandchildren Matthew, Annie, Jane and John Coughlin, Kyle, Kelsey and Tory Cardinal, sisters Joyce Brooks (Murray) and Florance Anderson, brothers Don, Garry (Jeanette) and Danny (Lynne), sister-in-law Mary Keryluk, brother-in-law John Keryluk, sister-in-law Mary Keryluk as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. George was also predeceased by his brother David, brothers-in-law Mike and Adam Keryluk, Stan Kereluk, niece Corri Borkowsky, and nephew Randy Kereluk. Born October 8, 1933 in MacGregor, MB to George Miller Henderson Sr. and Winnifred Mabel Henderson (nee Meneer), George was the oldest (and he would say the best looking) of seven children. Over the years he worked for T.C.A., Brooke Bond Ltd., STP Canada Ltd., and St. James School Division #2, retiring in 1995 from Sturgeon Creek Regional Secondary School. He always worked hard to provide for his family. As an athlete, coach and a volunteer, George was outstanding. He was a gifted athlete and excelled at all sports - football, hardball, softball, hockey, soccer, Old-Timers slow-pitch and hockey, bowling, curling and even golf and won many awards. At Bord-Aire Community Club, Bourkevale Community Centre, and with the St. James Minor Hockey Association he spent countless hours coaching baseball, hockey, flooding and clearing outdoor rinks, serving as President several times, and filling in wherever help was needed. Both he and Lina set the bar high for volunteering and giving back to the community. He had a wicked sense of humour, really off-coloured and loved to host family and friends for gatherings in the basement of 511 Roseberry, George's Bar was always tons of fun. Coffee at Robin's Donuts was a favourite pastime. He loved his children, grandchildren, his extended family and friends, and he did his best to give them the best he could. Thank you to the staff of Deer Lodge Tower 7 for caring for George. Also to Joyce, Danny, Lynne, Doreen McAdam and Yogi for all the support you gave George. You made his last few years so much better. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in George's memory to a charity of your choice. A celebration of George's life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). Private family interment. Dad, Grumpy Grandpa George, we love you, we miss you, thank you for everything. Bases are loaded, you've hit a grand slam and you are running for home. Well done!
