Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBESSIE LOUISE STEWART April 1, 1939 - December 3, 2017 It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Bessie Louise Stewart (née Wenzel) on December 3, 2017, after a brief illness at Riverview Health Centre. She was predeceased by her husband Ken Stewart, and her sister Evelyn McKendrick. She is survived by her sister Helen Powell of Camanche, Iowa, her children Kathy (Guy) Plett, Anne (Rob) Moniuk and John Stewart. She is also survived by her grandchildren Elizabeth Ross, Guy Plett, Wendy Moniuk and Victor Moniuk, great-grandchildren William and Cameron Plett, and many nieces and nephews. Bessie was born in Camanche, Iowa and there met and married her husband Ken. Mom and Dad made their home in many places before finally settling in Winnipeg. They had several adventures both within Canada and various places around the world. She was an accomplished seamstress and knitter with both family and friends being the grateful recipients of her beautiful creations. She also gave her time to groups including Girl Guides and Boy Scouts and many other organizations. The family is grateful for the tender care given by Palliative Care and Riverview Health Centre in Mom's final days. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Fish Futures Inc. directed to The Dr. Ken Stewart Memorial Scholarship in Aquatic Biology and Conservation, or the charity of choice in her memory would be appreciated. A private memorial will be held at a later date.

I am sad to hear of your loss. Your parents were always kind and helpful to me, especially when I was new to Winnipeg. Sympathy to the Stewart family. We were lucky to many wonderful visits with both Bess & Ken. Your mom was a lovely lady, and I really enjoyed our afternoon chats while the guys were out target shooting.
