THELMA HORNBY (nee BARNARD) On December 1, 2017, Thelma passed away at Riverview Healthcare Centre, at the age of 89. She was predeceased by her parents, Guelph and Olive Barnard; her husband Stan Hornby and by her sister Barbara Barnard. She is survived by her children, Noreen (Garry) Wilkes and Craig (Lucie) Hornby; her grandchildren, Ryan (Karen) and Lisa Wilkes and Cameron Hornby; and her great- grandchildren, Jessica, Julia and Ella Wilkes. She is also survived by her brother Warren (Jocelyn) Barnard; nieces, Lois (Steve) and Alison (John) and their families; her cousin Gwen (Richard) Greig and family. Mom was a comptometer operator, working for the Canadian Wheat Board, where she met Stan, and later for Eatons and the CPR Railway. On retirement, mom and dad enjoyed many winter trips. After dad's passing, she and her sister Barb spent many happy winters in Marco Island, Florida. Singing brought great enjoyment to mom. In her earlier years, she sang in many church choirs and in later years, enjoyed singing with the Dakota Dazzlers at Dakota House. Family was very important to mom, especially her grandchildren. They all have many happy memories with grandma, especially summers spent at Falcon Lake. The family would like to thank all the staff on 1C and 3C at Riverview for all the excellent care she received for the past three years. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date. • Hello Noreen and Craig, I am sending my condolences for the entire Barry Family from 20 Glen Avenue for the loss of your Mother. We all grew up as friends and neighbours together back in the day and so we were happy to see that your Mom lived a long and good life. Our Mom lived to 95 1/2, Bernice Cullen left us last year but recently I saw Barb Cullen and she tells me her dad is now 99 and still driving his car. Most of the parents we grew up with on Glen Avenue are gone now but seeing your Mom's picture and reading her obituary sure brought back a flood of memories of us all living across the street from each other and lots of good times. My sister Linda and I even worked at the Wheat Board with your Dad so we also had a connection to him that way. Sorry there is no memorial for your Mom or we would all have had an opportunity to meet and give each other hugs at your loss. - Posted by: Joan Boone (Neighbour from Glen Avenue) on: Dec 10, 2017

  • So very sorry for your loss. Thoughts & prayers to everyone. Glen & Doris - Posted by: Glen & Doris Dieno (Friends) on: Dec 09, 2017
