Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER THOMAS TOMCHUK January 30, 1930 - December 5, 2017 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Walter Tomchuk, husband, father and grandfather, on the morning of December 5, 2017, at the age of 87 years, with his daughter Brenda by his side. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Marion of 61 years; his daughters Brenda (Sylvia) and Samantha (Dave); his son Derek; his two loved grandchildren, Thorin (Chantell) and Tayla; his sister Barbara Olender; and his many nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Julia Tomchuk; his sister Sophie Finnbogason; and nephew Barry Finnbogason. Although he was retired from the University of Manitoba, he worked at Neilson Fly In Fishing Camp for a number of years, a job that he truly enjoyed. His love for playing the guitar and VLTs gave him true happiness in his later years. In keeping with Walter's wishes, there will be no service and cremation has already taken place.

Having spent 15 years as part of Wally's family I considered him a father figure and spent lots of time doing what we enjoyed doing , shingled a roof , building a deck , maintenance on his rental property, blowing snow and cutting grass and probably Wally's favorite was trips to the dump. Enjoyed sitting around the neighbors garage listening to Wally play his guitar and singing, and of course tipping back a few. I've missed are friendship in the last few years but have thought of him often. He will be missed but never forgotten. - Posted by: Rae () on: Dec 09, 2017
