Joe came under my care when he had his kidney transplant in 1975. He was one of the best transplant patients; never missing an appointment and always looking after himself. The results was that his kidney worked for over 30 years. Over the next 4 decades he worked hard supporting the Kidney Foundation, The Garden of Life at Assiniboine Park, along with other activities such as helping patients with their tax returns. He was an avid cyclist and wanted to come with me on my cross-Canada cycling trip, but I knew I could not keep up with him and I refused his offer. He never failed to send me his Best Wishes on the anniversary of his transplant, my birthday and other times such as Thanksgiving, and was always appreciative of the medical care provided by the Transplant Program. I will miss the contact and friendship that we had with each other. John Jeffery MD Professor of Medicine (retired) - Posted by: John Jeffery (Physician) on: Dec 31, 2017

I worked with Joe at Bristol Aerospace in the 1980s and 90s. Although I haven't seen him in many years, I do remember how much I enjoyed our discussions, both business and personal. He was always a happy and positive person, and never hesitated to take the time to help me out or explain any finance/accounting matter that I didn't understand (being a Contracts guy, there were many). My condolences to his family and friends. - Posted by: Russ Duffy (Former Co-worker) on: Dec 23, 2017

Our condolences to Joe’s brother Paul and his extended family. Courageous, tenacious and positive. That was Joe. His cheerful energy could be felt by anyone whose life he touched and he reached out to many. Joe’s medical troubles did not diminish him. He was larger than life; he loved life. He is gone too soon. - Posted by: Alison (Thomson) & Tony Robinson (Friends) on: Dec 15, 2017
