Date of Passing: Dec 06, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJUNE FLORENCE HORNUNG (nee BODMAN) In the early hours of December 6, 2017 June Hornung took her last breath, with her family by her side, and began her journey to visit loved ones she has lost over her 75 years. June leaves behind her husband Alvin, daughter Debbie (Curtis), son David (Allison), daughter Christine, foster son John, her brother Don (Terry), brother-in-law Frank (Noreen), brother-in-law Alan (Renie), sister-in-law Geraldine (Bart), foster brother-in-law Norman (Sheila), and of course her pride and joy her grandchildren Jennifer (Scott), Sarah, Alexis, Jett, Kayson, Dallin, and the newest addition to her family, her great-grandson Grayson, as well as many friends and relatives that she loved dearly. June was predeceased by her infant son Joseph, father Edward, mother Florence, sister Trudy, father-in-law Michael, mother-in-law Annie, sister-in-law Beatrice, and brother-in-law Gilbert. June was born on January 16, 1942 in Winnipeg, she grew up spending time surrounded by close family and friends. June met her husband Alvin and they later married on September 10, 1960. Not long after they welcomed Debbie in 1961, Joseph in 1963, David in 1966 and Christine in 1971. June loved children, the more the merrier. Over the years she mothered and loved many foster children. On any given day, June and Alvin would be found piling their own children along with several foster children on their laps into the car for a weekend at West Hawk Lake. June always had an open home and welcomed all that came through her door equally. Like her mother's home before hers, it seemed family and friends would gather there naturally. That being said, June's family would like to extend an invite to share in a celebration of her life on December 23, 2017 at Valley Gardens Community Centre. Feel free to stop in any time between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to share your favourite stories and memories of this amazing lady.

Warm thoughts go out to all of June's extended family. Growing up in the 1960s, the Bodman family were always a large part of my family's summer ( West hawk Lake) and Christmas activities at our homes. The Bodmans were like uncle, aunt and cousins to me. The passage of time has changed that tradition of our families through the years and as this era slowly comes to a close, may we fondly remember June and her family.
