I am so sorry to hear about the passing of John. I have been his nurse and taking care of his feet for the past 11 years. I looked forward to seeing John every few months. He would often tell me about his adventures, what was going on in the city, interesting new tv shows. Not only was he a client he became a friend, his positive outlook and passion for the community has always inspired me. It was kismet when just the month before I met his brother Robert for the first time to do his foot care. We talked about how John was such a wonderful person and Robert expressed how much he loved his brother. It was such a coincidence to hear about them both passing in such a short time frame. I am sending my deepest condolences to the family of both John & Robert. I hope you can take comfort in knowing how much they loved all of you. I am very blessed to have connected with 2 beautiful souls. - Posted by: Liezel Jacinto (Foot Nurse) on: Jan 15, 2018

It is with great regret that we must acknowledge the passing of our dear friend John, who was known for years by his stage name of Jennifur. This passing is a tragic loss for the local community, since John served for over forty years in one capacity or another to support local charities in aid of people needed some help or needed some friendship. He and I also shared several friends over the years. As a member of the Board of Gio's Cares, I witnessed John's capacity, instinct, and determination, and respected him deeply. John, you will be missed. - Posted by: Ernest Ruet d'Auteuil (friend) on: Dec 20, 2017

John was literally, one in a million! When I first met him back in the early 2000's, he had the care and warmth that you would hope to expect from someone who is truly welcoming you into a new community. His laugh, his wit, his involvement in so many areas showed how special he is/was. Those characteristics along with others will no doubt be cherished by many people for years to come. Even though it has been several years that I have had any contact with him, I was shocked and very saddened to hear of his passing as John left a lasting impression on me to accept others no matter what and to show your light when the room around you may be dark. That's a lesson I do my best to live by, to this day. My deepest condolences to John's family and other close loved ones. We will miss you John ... AKA ... Jennifur. Give Shauna-Rae a high 5 from all of us down here! Heaven just became a bit crazier with you two up there, so, show'em what a true party is like! My deepest sympathies to the family and Gio's Cares. I'm very saddened and surprise. I haven't been to Winnipeg in years, but when I was there John was always a great guy to talk to. He was a fun-loving person. Wish I could say more, but I am very shocked. Wish I could be there for his Celebration of Life in January, but will be thinking of him on that day.
