Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHARMEN (HARRY) VAN DER PLOEG Harmen "Harry" Van Der Ploeg, aged 74, passed away suddenly on November 24, 2017. Harry was born in Rauwerd , Friesland, the Netherlands on July 14, 1943. He immigrated to Canada with his family in 1948 and settled in Balmoral, Manitoba and then moved to Stonewall in 1958. He joined the RCC of Signals in 1962 and received an honorable discharge in 1965. Harry worked in Lynn Lake mines and thereafter Weyburn, Saskatchewan and various jobs in and around the Winnipeg area. In 2008, Harry retired to London, Ontario up until his passing. He was a member of the Legion Branch 52 for 46 years. Harry is predeceased by his parents, Pieter and Grace. He is survived by his brother Jack (Julie). He also leaves behind many nephews and nieces, as well as grandnephews and grandnieces. Cremation has already taken place and interment in the Stonewall Cemetery will occur later in 2018.

Jack, my heart goes out to you on the loss of your Brother Harry. You and your family have been in my thoughts over the years. I remember two wonderful young boys making the best of their lives in new and strange surroundings.
