CASSANDRA (RANDIE) LEE SCHLAMP August 10, 1959 - December 12 , 2017 Peacefully at home with her loving husband, Rob Nickells, by her side, Randie passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Randie was born in Edmonton, Alberta on August 10, 1959. She was predeceased by her Mom and Dad, June and Harold and her sister Pam. She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her sisters, Deborah, Cheryl and Kristine; nieces and nephews, Lyndsey (Derek), Kelly (Jenna), Jason (Karen), Jessie (Shane), Kurtis (Laura) and great-nieces, Emmelyn and Millie. Randie left Winnipeg after obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree to attend Western University in Ontario, where she obtained her PhD, and on to Bloomington, Indiana for her post-doctoral studies. This is where Randie met the love of her life, Dr. Rob Nickells. Together they made a great team, eventually settling in Madison, Wisconsin where they worked together researching the biology of glaucoma at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While Randie had a passion for her work, her greatest love was to come home to the family cottage at Eleanor Lake in the Whiteshell Provincial Park. This was her Garden of Eden. Randie also loved to travel and spent her last year of life visiting Japan and Egypt, which was part of her bucket list. Randie had a love of aquariums, dogs and particularly Siamese cats, providing a rescue home to six of these furry felines over the years. Her menagerie of four legged friends will also miss her. Randie, may you rest in peace. We all will forever have a void in our hearts without you here. A memorial service will take place at a later date. People may make donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society if they desire.

One would have to be a special kind of person to be remembered by her teacher 50 years later and Randie was that special. My condolences to her family. - Posted by: Doug Jordan (Taught her in grade 6 - 8) on: Dec 20, 2017

I am so very sorry to hear this sad, sad news. I was just looking at old class pictures from Laidlaw. I was at the 40th reunion and her name came up multiple times. We had such a great childhood growing up and I fondly remember being on our bikes in Assiniboine Park and hanging out at the rinks. My condolences to all of you. May her memory be a comfort and blessing to all who knew and loved her. Irene Rabb - Posted by: Irene Rabb (childhood friend) on: Dec 20, 2017

So sorry to hear of Randie's passing. Best friends as little girls, she will always hold special memories for me. Eleanor Lake two weeks at a time - so adventurous - so sporty - so much fun. Deepest sympathy to Cheryl, Deb and Kristie. You've had such a sad year. We hadn't seen each other since school days but I'm so sorry. - Posted by: Margaret Giesbrecht (Duncan) (Childhood friend) on: Dec 16, 2017
