Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRIS LECHNER Iris Bernice Lechner passed away peacefully on December 10, 2017 at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre. Iris was born March 11, 1930 to Russell and Mabel Arnott in Darlingford, Manitoba. Her siblings, Verna Walsh, Beth Harriman, Ethel Arnott and Allan Arnott all predeceased her. Until recently, Iris enjoyed being active both mentally and physically. She embraced regular exercise at the Reh-Fit Centre, frequent travel, golf, curling, playing bridge, attending theatre and dancing. Iris loved to socialize, organize events and deal with anything financial. She volunteered her mathematical skills to various organizations as treasurer/bookkeeper and was a great community member, helping organize and run events at the Pembina Curling Club and in her condo complex. Iris married Clarence Lechner in 1949 and they raised four daughters: Sandra Lechner (Ed), Glenda Jones (David), Jo-Anne Thompson (Jim), and Kim Wilson (Larry). Iris is survived by her daughters, grandchildren: Christiana and Graeme Mellway, Jennifer and Scott Thompson, Kaylee and Danielle Wilson, and numerous loving relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life took place in October, 2016 and, in accordance with Iris's wishes, a private graveside service will be held for the immediate family at the St. Vital Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all who cared for Iris during her stay at Golden Door. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
