CHRISTINE JEAN RAMSAY (nee LALIBERTE) December 30, 1967 - December 13, 2017 After a courageous fight against ovarian cancer, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Christine. She is survived by her loving husband Tom; children, Kelly (Taylor) and Devon (Sydney); parents, Joyce and Kelly; sister Nicole (Dave); nieces and nephews, Shayne (Chris), Steven (Rennae), Darien and Rhean; and australian shepherd Cookie. We all loved her so much and she loved us just the same. Nothing was more important to her than family. She attended all her family's sports games, concerts, graduations and made sure to always have a gift and a card. She insisted that if she were to pass, we properly wrap all the Christmas gifts she purchased. Even the day before she died she insisted we get a card for her daughter's boyfriend's (Taylor's) birthday. We all agree that she was the toughest person we have ever known, and it shone through in her five year battle with ovarian cancer. She endured surgery, many kinds of chemotherapy and all the difficult things that come with a cancer diagnosis. She was continually positive and believed she could beat it right until the end. There is almost no better example of her perseverance, drive and resilience than when, at Canada games where she was expected to win gold, she finished her swim race with a separated shoulder. No one loved swimming more than Christine. She spent countless hours at the pool, the beach in Cuba and her favourite: Lake of the Woods, just enjoying the water. When she couldn't swim because of her chemo port, she would just put her legs in the lake. She loved everything water, and we are so grateful she could spend her last summer at the lake with her family, still swimming and driving around in her beloved pontoon boat. She even took her australian shepherd Cookie on the paddleboard with her. Cookie's namesake is from cookie monster whom Christine's love for can be seen all over her home from the Christmas tree to the kitchen cupboards. Along with the cookie monster, she loved cats, including her two predeceased cats, Lucky and Patches whose pictures are also all over the house. You could not write a memorial for Christine without mentioning the Winnipeg Jets. She watched every Jets game, even the one that was on two days before she passed. She had not slept well in a week but still managed to stay up through the entire game. She loved to yell at the players on the television and it certainly won't be as eventful without her. She will be sorely missed but we take solace in the fact that her death was very peaceful. She slipped away quietly while her husband, whom she loved more than anything, held her hand. It was her wish that we do not hold a funeral but instead remember her by celebrating her life. We wish that in lieu of flowers you would consider donating to either Ovarian Cancer Canada or CancerCare Manitoba. In fact, the family would like to thank the nurses and Dr. Ultman at CancerCare in St. Boniface Hospital for providing excellent care over the past five years. We are so grateful for your handwork and commitment to providing such high quality, positive care to Christine. 204-782-3541

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Tom, I was so sad to hear of Christine's passing. I know she was your soul mate and a wonderful Mom. It had been some time since I had seen her, probably back to the days when the kids were small at RA Steen, but I remember that she did not pass up the opportunity to watch. I know the memories you have of her are rich and will help you and the kids as you proceed forward with your lives. Please accept our heartfelt condolences and know that we are thinking of you and the kids, Thom, Margaret, Chloe and Teagan Wolstencroft - Posted by: Thom Wolstencroft (Friend) on: Jan 25, 2018

  • Tom and Family, My sincere condolences on the all too soon passing of Christine. She was such a wonderful and happy person to work with during my time at Wawanesa Insurance, she always had a smile or a laugh for everyone she met. • A terrible loss at such a young age. Our family moved away from Winnipeg when I was very young so I did not know Christine very well. I did meet her at one of the family reunions. She was a very friendly and energetic person. We are thinking of her family during this difficult time. - Posted by: Jackie Lemelin (Cousin) on: Dec 20, 2017
