Karen and I worked together for several years at the Canadian Grain Commission as developers. Karen was a power house of influence and energy. Always striving to improve project management and coding practices in the development shop. Always incredibly giving and fiercely loyal to family and friends. Karen and I would regularly go for long walks at lunch. The conversation usually started with work issues but what she loved to talk about most was family: Lance, Doris, Geri, Brook and Sage and her Oak point adopted family (close friends were always more like family to Karen). Lance was the majority of that and she always had dramatic stories to tell of trips to Indonesia, geological quests into the far north, Inter-lake garbage dumps and local politics. She was a force for good for everyone around her. She will be sadly missed. - Posted by: Rick Cotton (Friend) on: Jan 26, 2018

Karen always had an upbeat word for me. We talked often and even walked home from work often talking, laughing, even crying when need be. She will be missed but now she is with her love of life her husband and in peace. Will miss out talks we had on fb & of of course miss you. - Posted by: DAWN AISENSTAT (Friend from the Canadian Grain Commission & beyond) on: Jan 24, 2018

I worked with Karen on a financial spreadsheet she helped create at the CGC. She had a sunny, pleasant personality. We shared our life experiences and continued our friendship long after the work project was completed. She gave me a stuffed cat with button eyes and a long tail which she got at a craft sale that I admired in her office. When I told her I couldn’t take it, she insisted that she wanted me to have it so I would not forget her or our friendship. Today it sits on a pipe overhanging in our laundry room ceiling, so I see it every time I enter the room. And, yes, Karen, I will never forget you or the great co worker chats we had. I know you are in a better place, God bless and keep you in His care. - Posted by: Kathy Fecio (Co-worker at the Canadian Grain Commission) on: Dec 19, 2017

I'm very sad to read this. Karen was very lively and a good friend at one point in my life. She loved her husband more than any other woman I've ever met. Sad news. - Posted by: Gunny Tennese (Friend) on: Dec 19, 2017
