LILLIAN BERCUSON Lillian Bercuson quietly passed on October 25, 2017, surrounded by her family. Born Lillian Glassman in 1922, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba and pursued a graduate degree in Social Work at the University of Toronto. Lillian began her professional career placing Jewish children orphaned in the Second World War with families in Montreal. There, she met her husband to be, Norman. They wed in 1947, and remained happily married until his death in 1995. In 1950, Norman and Lillian relocated to Winnipeg, where she spent the remainder of her life. Norman and Lillian had two children in Winnipeg, Kenneth and Judith. Lillian was the glue that bound the family together. While entirely devoted to her husband and children, Lillian pursued a very active career in community service. She was particularly involved in Jewish affairs and in improving the lives of the elderly. In the latter regard, she helped design Golden Age Community programs and served on a Royal Commission on Aging. In the Jewish community, she held senior positions in the National Council of Jewish Women. Lillian will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son Kenneth (Sarah), of Las Vegas; her daughter Judith, of Toronto; her grandchildren, Samuel and Deborah, both of California.
