JUNE LYNN GERRIE Our beloved mother, June Lynn Gerrie, died after a long illness on December 23, 2017. June was born in Cadillac, Saskatchewan on March 20, 1944. The daughter of a bank manager, she moved to several Saskatchewan towns during her childhood, graduating from high school in Gull Lake. June was the middle of three girls and was close to her two sisters all of her life. After high school, she moved to Winnipeg to attend university and at first studied interior design, but transferred to occupational therapy because she wanted to help those in need. In 1968, June married George Gerrie, whom she met while working at HSC, and stayed home for many years to raise her four children. Thereafter, she worked at HSC and Boundary Trails Health Centre. June loved reading and art, and was an avid painter, crafter and quilter. She loved to spend time with her family, and was happiest when engaging the children in a craft, game or book. At Christmas, she would find a good chair at the McNally Robinson bookstore and spend several hours picking out just the right books for her grandchildren. In her last years, our gentle mom struggled valiantly with a relentless illness, she is now at peace. We will always remember her for the family that she built, her kindness and the love that she inspired in the hearts of her friends, and family, sisters, Glenna (David), Miriam (Norman), children Shannon (Al), Glen (Cielo), Graham (Monica), Joanne (Dave), nieces and nephews, and grandchildren, Audrey, Duncan, Sam, Rebecca, Alexa, Alicia, Aria, Stella, Miranda and Vanessa. A private memorial will be held in January, for information email s.gerrie@icloud.com. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, Manitoba and Winnipeg Region.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. I worked with June for many years at Eden Mental Health Centre. Your mom was one of the most patient, kind souls I've ever met. She took time to guide and direct me through the world of O.T. I've thought a lot about her over the years and wish I would have stayed in touch. I think of her often and the lessons she instilled. She left a lasting impression. Rochelle - Posted by: Rochelle (Coworker ) on: Feb 08, 2018
