FREDERICK LORNE FREETH
Born: Oct 06, 1930
Date of Passing: Dec 24, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFREDERICK LORNE FREETH Surrounded by loved ones, Fred passed away early Christmas Eve day. Fred was born in Winnipeg on October 6, 1930 and lived his whole life in Winnipeg. Fred was predeceased by his siblings, Leonard, Maureen, Sheilagh and Lawrie; and his furry companion of many years, Wicket. Fred is survived by his beloved wife, Helen (nee Kitching); and his beloved children, Anne, David (Marina), Kathryn (Aaron). Bumpa will be missed by his beloved grandchildren, Brianne, Courtney, Elise, Kiera, Kylie, Jared; and his loving furry family member Fritz. Fred's working years were spent with CP Rail Police Department. He was a dedicated family man spending as much time as he could with us, camping, fishing, and the love of the outdoors. Fred volunteered as a Scouts Canada Cub leader teaching boys to love the outdoors. Fred always had a helping hand at the ready for those in need of any handy assistance. We rarely saw a repairman in our home except for the washing machine. Most people say that there are six degrees of separation of knowing people, for Fred it was more like two, almost every time he would go out he would see someone that he knew and would have to have a conversation. Fred loved to create things from wood from a picnic table to cedar chests to bat houses to a hippo, panda, giraffe and dinosaur. Fred also loved to garden and each year tried to get the hottest peppers to grow. Fred was a longtime member of King Edward Masonic Lodge as secretary and went through the chairs to become Master. The family would like to thank the following people - Dr. Bob Choptiany, all the neighbours on Winslow Drive, and all the medical staff that provided wonderful care to both Fred and the family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Heart & Stroke Foundation, CancerCare Manitoba or to a charity of your choice. A celebration of Fred's life will be at Glen Lawn Funeral Chapel at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018.

We are very sorry to hear about Bumpa's passing. Although we did not personally know him, we know how much he was loved by Kathryn and the family. My daughter is a close friend of Kiera's and has heard many wonderful life stories. Thinking of you at this time, Debbie Rasmussen and family. - Posted by: deborah rasmussen () on: Jan 09, 2018

Condolences for Freds family, I was just thinking of my brothers and Fred just last month. I was wondering if I still had his address, but then life got busy again. I will miss Bro Fred his humour and that gentle smile. I will try to attend the service. - Posted by: Jim McKendry (a brother from King Edward) on: Dec 30, 2017
