WILLIAM ANDREW SUTHERLAND September 3, 1929 - December 26, 2017 After a steady decline in physical abilities over the last several years, Bill succumbed to pneumonia in the early hours of December 26, 2017. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marion (Bain), his parents William and Marion Sutherland, his in-laws Muriel and William Bain, and his brothers James and John. He was also predeceased by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: June Sutherland, Grace Sutherland, Barbara and Gordon Sefton, Elizabeth Ilott, Dorsey Ilott, Raymond Leonard, Ron Allan, Tom Paton and Petra Earl. Bill is survived by his wife Lillian; his four daughters: Leslie, Joanne (Dennis Wiens), Sandra (Peter Sawatzky) and Shelley (Carl Smith); five grandchildren: Vanessa (Randy Peters), Joshua, Rebecca (Reuben Loeppky), Peter and Noah, his sister Jean Paton, and many nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren. After retiring from a lengthy social work career with the Manitoba Government, he expanded his hobbies of golfing, reading, and watching sports of all kinds, and became quite involved with square dancing. Bill enjoyed trips to Clear Lake with Marion and the girls, and summers by the pool with his grandchildren. Later in life, he and Lillian enjoyed long drives, and the two travelled extensively throughout Canada and the United States, as well as trips to Ukraine, Australia, the Mediterranean and Argentina. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive, Winnipeg on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
