LAWRENCE WESLEY (WES) MOAR March 19, 1947 - December 25, 2017 Wes grew up in Selkirk, Manitoba with his family and moved to East St. Paul in 1974 with his wife Judy, where their home remains today. Wes' work ethic was evident during his years of work at Abex, Syrota Brothers, Barnes Western, part owner of Heritage Industries and for 26 years at Ancast Industries Ltd. He loved spending time with family, his wonderful neighbours and friends. Annual highlights included hosting May-long fireworks parties for over 35 years, making homemade french fries for all to enjoy, having pumpkin carving contests, playing horseshoes at the lake and decorating the yard for Christmas in anticipation of trying to be first with the lights on. Wes was an avid Montreal Canadiens and Winnipeg Jets fan and in earlier years played hockey for the Selkirk Steelers, Orioles and helped coached at East St. Paul. He loved fishing with his brother Jim and friends, gardening and sharing the fruits of his labour with everyone and camping in earlier years at Winnipeg Beach and Nutimik. Wes was well known in his community for helping neighbours with grass cutting, yardwork, snowblowing driveways and being the general 'fix it man'. He is survived by his wife Judy, daughter Samantha (Kevin) and son Steve (Kelly). He is also survived by his sisters, Kathy, Janet (Barry) and brother Jim (Terrie), along with his grandchildren, Benjamin and Jonathan. Service will be held at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R2J 4J4. Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018. Please come casually dressed. Education was very important to Wes. For those wishing to make a donation in Wes' honour, we have sent up an education fund for Benjamin and Jonathan Webster at Cambrian Credit Union; 1366 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R2G 1M8. The cheques must say: "account of Judith Moar in trust for Moar Grandchildren". In the alternative, a donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Winnipeg at 532 Ellice Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 1Z2, would be greatly appreciated.

  • To know Wes, was to Love him. Who did not like Wes?? He more than enjoyed his hobbies, he shared the fruits of his labor...I never knew there were 60+ kinds of tomatoes. He always showed his love to all, a truly remarkable act of kindness, we may take for granted. He was the PERFECT Husband, the PERFECT Friend, the PERFECT neighbor. He lived his life to the fullest.
