Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPAUL CONRAD KOVACS We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Paul Conrad Kovacs on Monday, January 1, 2018. Paul was born in Winnipeg on April 16, 1965. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Michael and Margaret Kovacs, his siblings, Michael, Robert, Colin, Colleen and Mark, and his nephew Jeffrey. The Kovacs family owes an immeasurable debt of gratitude to Eugene and the late Helen Regehr who fostered Paul from 18 years of age and made a meaningful place for him in their home for 27 years. Indeed, all members of the extended Regehr family, Herb (Cindy), Donald, Reynold (Karis) and their children richly enhanced Paul's life. Paul thoroughly enjoyed camping trips with Eugene and Helen and was welcomed at many joyous family celebrations and dinners. He loved to be physically active and took great pride in being fit and trim. Bike riding, jogging, swimming and participating in the Special Olympics were all grand adventures for Paul. Listening to his much-loved country music and watching action movies were his two favourite pastimes. Paul commenced his working career at Palliser Furniture through the Work and Social Opportunities Inc. program and then transitioned to its day program. He made and cherished many good friends and engaged in a multitude of social activities with his working community. For the last seven years of his life, Paul resided at Special People in Kildonan East (Spike) where he received attentive care and support. Paul was dressed in gentleness and deeply rooted in his Faith. Notwithstanding some difficulties, Paul always possessed a positive outlook on life and will be remembered for his unique and infectious sense of humour. A celebration of and thanksgiving for his life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6 at McIvor Avenue Mennonite Brethren Church, 200 McIvor Avenue.

I had the pleasure of coaching Paul with Special Olympics Manitoba, and he was one of the funniest guys I've ever met. Always joking with us coaches or the other athletes, Paul was one of our very favorites during his time with our club. (EK Eagles athletics) Paul will certainly be missed as I'm sure that every life he touched, he did so in a positive way. - Posted by: Darryl Ludwig (ex-sports coach) on: Jan 07, 2018

We appreciated that Eugene and Helen provided their home for Paul beginning in 1983. We first met him at a week end trip to a lake in Minnesota and have enjoyed his excitement, enthusiasm, and humor over these many years. - Posted by: Charles & Lorraine (Regehr) Harms (Sister to Eugene Regehr) on: Jan 04, 2018
