BRIAN EDWARD MCCORMICK November 15, 1944 - January 3, 2018 Peacefully, on January 3, Brian Edward McCormick (hog) passed away at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre, with family by his side. Brian was predeceased by his sister Pat, his mother Jean and his father Edward. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy McCormick (goat), brother Barry and sister Judy (Bob), and numerous family members. Brian worked for CN in Winnipeg and Montreal; after retiring in Quebec, he returned to his favourite place in the world, Twin Beach on Lake Manitoba in 2006. During his 26-year career with CN, he met many wonderful people that were very dear to him. He enjoyed physical activity, especially running, walking and working out, and once ran the Manitoba Marathon on a dare. His knowledge of early era professional sports was unequaled and enjoyed by family and friends. He enjoyed a good game of cards and hated when Nancy and her sister would talk throughout the game. For many years Brian held the record for the first one to go into the icy waters of his beloved lake. Over the past few years, Brian was able to see most of his lifelong friends and that meant the world to him. I am sure when the Lord's hand touched yours and guided you home that your eyes grew strong, your lungs filled with air and your heart overflowed with love. His lifelong commitment to charity gave him great joy. In lieu of flowers if you wish, with Brian in mind, please make a donation to a charity of your choice. A private gathering for family and friends will be arranged at a later date. Rest in Peace Brian, you will be forever loved and missed.

  • I just learned that Brian passed away. It's so sad and shocking. He was a terrific and fun guy. A very nice person. I danced with him at our last school reunion which was many years ago. My belated condolences to Nancy and his family. May Brian rest in peace. - Posted by: Rose Graham (nee Schultz) (He was a friend and I grew up with him in Brooklands.) on: Aug 24, 2018

  • Nancy, Barry, Judy and Family I was very sorry to read about cousin Brian's passing. Please accept my belated condolences to the Family and know you are in my thoughts and prayers. My earliest memories of my slim, young, very good looking, older than me, cousin Brian are of the house in Winnipeg, the outhouse - LOL - how much l learned at that time of my love of modern plumbing, taking us to the neighbours for water, Brian and Aunt jean trying to catch the mouse that had our Mom , Deed, standing on the kitchen table screaming . Too many other good memories to noted here. RIF Cousin Brian... - Posted by: Charlene Betts (Cousin ) on: Mar 30, 2018

  • An Irish poem for you... God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered "come to me." With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove tous, He only takes the best. Our most sincere condolences to Nancy and the family. - Posted by: Ken & Doris Murphy (Friends from Quebec) on: Jan 23, 2018

  • We worked at CN station in the early 70’s and played fastball with the Hawks. Although I have not seen him since the 70’s Brian had a profound effect on my life and I think of his wisdom and inspiration often. It was many years later that I realized what a wise man he really was and how he tried to lead me on the right path. Rest In Peace Brian - Posted by: Don Phillips (Co-worker, team mate and mentor) on: Jan 13, 2018
