ELAINE JOAN HUNT It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of the most amazing woman, Elaine Hunt on January 4, 2018. Elaine passed away peacefully after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. An incredible wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Elaine is remembered by her loving husband Bob; adoring daughters Kim (Steve) Anderson, Kerri (Corey) Pelland and Kristin (Ryan) Mitchell; her darling grandchildren Tyler, Niklas, Karlee, Blake and Morgan; brothers Jim Pyper and Gerry (Sandy) Pyper; her extended family and many, many friends. Elaine was born August 29, 1945 in Winnipeg and lived in Atikokan, ON and Decker, MB before making Winnipeg her home. She met her soul mate at Grant Park High School and together they enjoyed 49 years of marriage. They made their home in Fort Garry raising the family she was so proud of. Elaine recently retired from Assiniboine Credit Union Harrow branch, where she absolutely loved her job. Although her professional title was Member Services Coordinator, we know she was more of a social butterfly and official greeter. Elaine considered her colleagues as extended family and her members as friends. Even in her retirement, she continued these relationships. Elaine loved to socialize and was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends. She loved to shop, particularly at Shoppers Drug Mart collecting her Optimum Points; travel, especially for her grandchildren's sporting events and trips to Mahnomen; attend the Fort Garry Legion for BINGO and the meat draw which she often won; and curl, most notably with the Old Crocks league with whom she curled for 53 consecutive years. Most importantly, Elaine loved being a mother and grandmother. She was devoted to her grandchildren and was their biggest fan and so proud of them. During her final days, Elaine was stronger than we ever could have imagined and continued to put others before herself. A special thank you to her good friend Jeanne Hooper for all her support and care. Elaine was an amazing woman with a generous spirit and will be missed more than words can express. She had the most positive attitude on life, which she inherited from her mom. Everyone who knew her was truly blessed to have her in their life. If we all aspire to live by the values that guided Elaine's life, the world would be a better place. We know that the world was a better place by having her in it. "If love alone could have kept you here, you would have lived forever." A celebration of Elaine's life will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Pentecostal Church, located at 955 Wilkes Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Friends Funeral Service in care of arrangements.

I am at a loss of words. Didn’t think Elaine would leave us so soon. She still had to come visit me in London. She was a true friend to me. I will never forget her generosities towards me when i was away from my family in a foreign land. She was my family then and will always remain in my heart now and forever. My deepest condolences to her family. She will be sorely missed. - Posted by: Sunayna Azam (Friend) on: Jan 25, 2018

My deepest condolences to Bob, Kim and Steve, Kerri and Corey, Kristin and Ryan and families. As a young girl I grew up with Kerri and Kim, tagging along to so many different events with Bob and Elaine and loved every moment. Elaine welcomed everyone into their home, always with a smile and an ease that made you feel as part of the family. So many memories that I have cherished and will continue throughout my lifetime. Thank You Elaine for being a role model to so many. - Posted by: Colleen Fitzpatrick () on: Jan 21, 2018

Elaine, you were the absolute BEST. You helped us so much over the years, words can not describe all great things you did for us. You always teased me about our RRSP accounting and records. You were so personal and will be truly missed. Thinking of you, Bob and family. Bill and Carol Brewis - Posted by: Bill and Carol Brewis (Vantis, Hyline and Assiniboine Members) on: Jan 13, 2018

I was very saddened to read of Elaine's passing in the Saturday paper. Elaine' Mom and my Mom (Julie Fournier from Morden) were good friends for many, many years. Elaine was so much like her mom in so many ways; warm, loving and caring! As Elaine's daughters and grandkids you will need to carry these wonderful characteristics into the future as a tribute to both of them. My deepest sympathy to Bob and family. So sorry to hear of Elaine's passing. She was the face of Hyline CU and Vantis. As a life long customer she was always there to greet me, ask about my family and share about hers. I never met Bob or her family yet as I read this I realize I knew them all by name! Elaine often shared stories and spoke so fondly of her grandchildren. Yes, a great laugh and such a lovely lady. - Posted by: Cathy Babb (MIlls) () on: Jan 08, 2018

My sincerest condolences to the family. Elaine and I worked albeit briefly at Harrow (2.5 months) the lunch memories we shared will last with me for a life time! Thank you for sharing your lunches with me and including me in your lunch escapades! Anytime we would go over our allotted lunch time she would go to our branch manager’s office and let’s him know I was with her as to not get in trouble. 💖💖💖 - Posted by: Jilliane Miranda (Colleague) on: Jan 08, 2018

I am still in disbelief. Gone way too soon. Elaine and i go back a long way. We worked at Credit Union Central when it was on Donald St. We used to go bargain shopping at Eatons Mailorder all the time and bring back our bargains and we'd be laughing and carrying on like little kids. You would have thought we had won a lottery. We just started meeting up for monthly lunches with another coworker Marguerite and last year decided we needed to do this more often and get a bigger crowd of the Centrals retirees. I just wish we could still be on that page. I am going to miss that voice, that laugh and that smile that made life around you so positive. My heart goes out to Bob, the girls and their families and all Elaine's close Friends. She will be one very missed Lady. - Posted by: Barb Bright (Very long time friend) on: Jan 07, 2018

A wonderful woman who always opened her home on Beaumont Bay. I spent most of my Ralph Maybank days at the Hunt house sleeping over , play dates with Kim and hours in the camper out back . I still remember when Kristin was born. Elaine was completely exhausted but she patiently let Kim and I change diapers and hold her new baby. I think it was the first time I ever saw a newborn! When my mother died in grade 7 she took Kim and I out to Burger King for a treat and told me if I needed a place to live I could stay with Kim. I felt so loved that day!! Later when I moved away from Winnipeg she always followed up with Kim inquiring how I was doing. And anytime I visited Winnipeg I was always welcome at the Hunts. I am blessed to have known Elaine. You will be missed. My love to Bob , Kim, Kerri ,Kristin and the grandkids. - Posted by: Cammy (Friend of family ) on: Jan 07, 2018

Elaine and I always shared a joke about having the same name, E. Hunt and that our husbands were both Bob. I knew her for many, many years and always found her to be smiling and pleasant, just as her obit says "a social butterfly". I am very sad to read of her death and send my sympathy to her husband and family. She will be missed. - Posted by: Elizabeth Hunt (friend/member of HyLine/Vantis/Assiniboine when Elaine worked there) on: Jan 07, 2018

Elaine was indeed special! It was Elaine how suggested that I apply for a position at Hyline. Each morning we'd go for coffee before work and had wonderful times and lots of laughs. As couples we enjoyed our times with the kinsmen with Bob and Elaine as well. We shared many friends with you and think of those times often . We extend our deepest sorrow at Elaine's passing to Bob and the family . - Posted by: Willie and John Penner (Fort Gary Kinsmen and Kinnettes , coworker at Hyline Credit union) on: Jan 06, 2018
