Carol will be lovingly remembered by her children, Michael Hawkins (Rhiannon), Lisa Lewicki (Dennis), Travis Hawkins (Elvi), Cary Hawkins (Shauna); and her beloved grandchildren, Easton, Casin and Nathan. She will also be missed by her sister Donna; her cousin Jim (Evelyn); her nieces, Suzanne (Mark), Michelle (Dave); her nephew Stephen (Doreen); her great-nieces, Alyssa and Jennifer; her great-nephews, Dane and Jason; and her second cousins, Ryan (Demi) and Amy. Living in Charleswood ALL of her life, she made so many close friends over the years. There are way too many to mention, but you know who you are. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff at the Grace, especially Dr. Nkosi, Resident Dr. (Steve); nurses, Shannon, Holly and Lee. Words cannot express our gratitude to you all. A service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd., Winnipeg, Manitoba. A private interment will be held at a later date with family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Christmas Cheer Board, where mom enjoyed volunteering or to the Charleswood United Church, where she attended since childhood. "To the world you are a mother, but to your family you are the world." We will miss you mom, more than you will ever know! Michael, Lisa, Travis, Cary, and her cherished cat Niki. Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • Sincere condolences to Donna, Michael, Lisa, Travis, Carey and your respective families - I am shocked and saddened to hear of Carol's passing. I have known Carol from grade school through to High School and she was always a happy, positive and friendly person. Our mothers were close friends through Charleswood United Church and Rebbeka Lodge and we often reconnected. In recent years we shared the ministry at Charleswood United Church and visited on a regular basis. Carol was always there to volunteer and share her love, care and compassion. May she rest in peace. - Posted by: Barbara Bilodeau-Shumeley (Collett) (School friend.....) on: Jan 12, 2018

  • For the last several years Carol has attended a variety of my fitness classes at the 55 Charleswood Active Living Centre. Her warm smile ,sparkly eyes and positive attitude was a welcome blessing to all in class. She used to joke with me that she wanted to start each class with the various guided meditations I saved for the last few minutes. "Why save the best for last " she would quip? We will certainly miss and remember her. - Posted by: Jill Baird (fitness instructor) on: Jan 11, 2018

  • Our deepest sympathies to Michael, Lisa, Travis and Cary. Carol was a good friend and neighbor for many years. Her kind demeanor and bubbly personality made her a great part of our Westgrove Way years. She looked after our older children and she was so wonderful with them we decided to name our second born after Carol. She be missed! Unfortunately, we are out of the country and will not be able to attend the service but we are there in spirit. • I am so sorry to read of your moms passing. I loved working with her at Westgrove especially when she came in to work and had treated herself to butter and peanut butter on her toast. We had many many laughs together and she was wonderful with the kindergarteners. My thoughts are with you. I wish I was in town for the service.
