THEODORE (TED) PERICH Peacefully, on Friday, January 5, 2018, Ted passed away surrounded by family. Ted was predeceased by his wife Marilynn, his parents, Theodore Sr. and Anna, and his sister Orysia. Ted is survived by his sons, David, Douglas (Carroll) and daughter Susan (Howard) and grandchildren, Wesley (Raelynn), and Kristen (Blair). Ted was born May 25, 1930 and raised in the North End into a rich Ukrainian culture. Ted graduated from Isaac Newton High and went on to spend his entire career in sales, marketing and sales management, most notably 31 years with General Mills. Music of all genres was always present throughout his life. He played trumpet with the Greater Winnipeg High Schools Orchestra, and the Royal Winnipeg Rifles (Reserve) Military band, late during the Second World War. Ted was a true Jazz buff supporting local Jazz events where he became friends with a lot of Winnipeg's Jazz community. Ted was a regular at the Asper Jazz Series and Jazz Winnipeg concerts at the Art Gallery. Ted's true passion however was Ukrainian Choral Music. He sang tenor with three of the finest Ukrainian choirs ever to have been assembled in Winnipeg, The Walter Bohonos Male Chorus, O.Koshetz Choir and the Hoosli Ukrainian Male Chorus. Ted and his quartet, The Continentals, performed at Ukrainian festivals throughout Canada, with several appearances in Dauphin. Ted also sang at hundreds of Ukrainian weddings and funerals, and also performed dinner theatre at the Hollow Mug. For the past couple of years Ted has been a resident of Devonshire House II and thoroughly enjoyed his time there making new friends with the other residents and staff. Cremation has taken place and this spring we will be interring both Ted and Marilynn in a graveside ceremony at Glen Eden. Will notify this spring on a date. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Ted's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 9Z9. Vichnaya Pamyat

  • It just won’t be the same going to jazz shows and not running into Ted. We spent a lot of time over the years discussing performances or any other aspect of jazz that came to mind while we were talking. He kept me on my toes with his deep knowledge of the music and I will miss him. - Posted by: Chris Smith () on: Jan 14, 2018

  • I never had the opportunity to meet Ted Perich, but I know he raised a loving and most caring daughter (Susan), which I have had the delightful experience to work with ,sharing a nursing career. God Bless your family now and always. - Posted by: irene unruh (friend) on: Jan 13, 2018

  • I would like to offer my condolences to all of the family with the passing of your Dad. He was a great guy with a dry sense of humor. I would have first met Ted & Marilyn through Susan in elementary school. I will always remember he was a man of many contradictions. I was in awe of him when I'd see his suits on the chair back so they wouldn't wrinkle and his socks would be on hangers, he wore a suit like no other. The next time I would be over he would be in his undies and just laugh and say "It's just Lori, I don't have to change". I'm sure we drove him nuts through our school years but no matter what we did I was always welcomed back. He was the first to introduce me to Klekis hot dogs and most every type of Betty Crocker cake, icing or treat as he always filled me up a bag each time I was over. He is finally reunited with Marilyn, so know that they are happy together watching down on all of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. - Posted by: Lori Shaw (friend) on: Jan 13, 2018

  • I met Ted when I was taking care of his wife. At that time I started admiring his knowledge in all kind of subjects. We would talk about the travels he and Marylin did and comparing it to my own travels. He had an amazing memory and would tell me details about a trip from long time ago. I truly enjoyed our conversations. My deepest condolences to the family Elke Pielahn - Posted by: Elke (Friend through Home care) on: Jan 13, 2018
