Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD THOMAS COMFORT June 23, 1943 - January 7, 2018 At age 74, Ted passed away peacefully on January 7, 2018. Ted was predeceased by his father Thomas and his mother Isla Comfort. Ted is survived by Margaret Comfort, his loving wife of 30 years, his brother Don (Debbi), his nephew Scott (Yvonne) and their children, Sydney, Taylor and Cole, his many cousins, Margaret's children, Brent Cochrane (Linda), Lauri Dauter (Manfred), Alix Cochrane, and Margaret's grandson Brendan McAllister (Melissa). Ted spent almost five decades in the printing industry, starting in his home town of Winnipeg when he was hired as a sales representative for Evergreen Press. Ted worked his way up to Sales Manager and then to General Manager. Having spent some time in Vancouver working out of Lawson Graphics, a sister company of Evergreen, Ted was thrilled to permanently move to Vancouver when offered the position of Sales manager with Ronald's Printing. After working for other companies Ted embarked on opening a company of his own, Comfort Fine Print was launched in 1994. The Comfort Fine Print years were the best times of Ted's life. Ted approached every workday with enthusiasm and there were days when it was a race to see who opened the shop first. It was the long lasting friendships Ted developed that were most important to him and were the success of the company. Ted was an avid boater, and while living in Winnipeg owned a power boat, the Seal. When he wasn't working, he was boating on Lake Winnipeg and smaller lakes to the north. Once arriving on the west coast, he bought a wooden boat, a 32 foot Owens cabin cruiser, the Gull Wing. Ted was happiest cruising the waters of the San Juan and Gulf Islands with Margaret and his boating fraternity. Margaret wishes to extend her gratitude to Dr. Rob McDermid, the social workers and nursing staff at Surrey Memorial Hospital who cared for Ted over the last five months. The family is holding a private funeral service. A celebration of Ted's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Lung Association.
