MARY CLARE (MCGROATY) Born December 7, 1918 It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Clare announce her death on January 12, 2018. Mary Clare is survived by her granddaughter Georgina Clare; her daughter-in-law Kathy Jones and numerous nieces and nephews, most notably Brian Seadal, the nephew she raised. Mary is predeceased by her beloved daughter Kimberly; her husband Walter and her siblings, twin brother Cecil, Roy, Tommy, Veronica and Patricia. Mary was a woman who loved adventure and was always up for a party. As a young woman, she was one of a group of T. Eatons employees to volunteer to go to St. Catherine to make bombs for the war effort. Later, she returned to Winnipeg and married her war hero, Walter Clare. Together, they settled in Winnipeg where Mary continued to work for Eatons for the next 50, retiring well into her 70s. Mary and her only daughter Kimberley had a special bond. They spoke on the phone every day until Mary's loss of hearing made that difficult. When she was 80, Mary moved into Kim and Kathy's home where she lived until very shortly after Kimberley's death. She loved spending time with her family especially her granddaughter (her little princess), Georgina. The two of them spent many weekends going to movies, swimming, getting their hair done and taking vacations in Gimli. Mary lived a long and full life and will be missed. The family will be holding a private memorial service later in the month. Flowers are declined and any donations in Mary's name can be made to the Kimberley Clare bursury at the University of Manitoba. Aboriginal Funeral Chapel 204-586-7700
