MORRIS LEWICKI Morris Lewicki, 92, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, beloved husband and best friend of Helen (Teplyske) for 66 years, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for and loved, on January 10, 2018. Left to mourn his loss are wife Helen, daughters: Diane (Frank) Bussoli, grandchildren Kayla and Braden; and Linda (Brian) Pescitelli, grandchildren Matt (Natalie), Tom, great-grandson Callum. Dad was predeceased by two infants, parents John and Mary, sisters Stella and Jessie, brothers Ed, Tony, Ben and Joe. Mom and Dad were married on June 2, 1951. They bought their home and raised their family in East Kildonan, moving later to North Kildonan and spending his final years at Concordia Village. Dad and Mom loved to travel, as a family we enjoyed many road trips across Canada and the US. In the later years Hawaii became their favourite destination and they enjoyed it together for many years. Dad was an avid fisherman and cribbage player and looked forward to doing both. We also have wonderful memories of our dad sitting in the kiddie pool in summer with his children and then his grandchildren. Dad served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Shepard, Alberta from September 30, 1943 to March 22, 1946. He spent his time on the flight line of the Shepard Flying Squadron doing test flights and maintenance. Dad joined the Winnipeg Fire Department on September 16, 1952, where he served with distinction until his retirement as a Captain in 1984. He always took great pride in his duties as a firefighter and the camaraderie that existed within the department. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Concordia Place Personal Care Home, where Dad spent his final weeks, for their love and devotion to our dad and support for our family. Cremation has taken place and a private Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. If you choose, donations in his memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. The Broken Chain We knew that you were going, God was going to call your name. In life we loved you daily, In death, we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you. You did not go alone. For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. You left beautiful memories, Your love is still our guide. And although we cannot see you, You are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again. - Ron Tranmer
