KENNETH DAVID BUSBY March 28, 1933 - January 18, 2018 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Ken Busby on January 18, 2018 at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife Shirley; three children, Susan, Todd (Cheryl) and John (Dianne); five grandchildren, Brittany (Mitch), Brendan (Ana), Brett, Bryson and Amanda and three great-grandchildren, Ella, Maddox and Cruz. Unfortunately, he did not live to see the birth of his fourth great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sister Shirley (John); brother-in-law Bob (Doreen) and several nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Lily Busby; in-laws, Walter and Olive Brennan; sister Billie Laxdal and his brother-in-law Bill Brennan. Ken spent his entire career in the grain industry. He enjoyed sports, especially hockey and baseball. Ken was inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000 as a member of the St. Boniface Native Sons. His hockey team, the St. Boniface Canadiens, was inducted into the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame in 2009. Ken was also very involved in coaching hockey and baseball in the St. James area. We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Charleswood Care Centre, especially Irene, for their care and compassion shown to Ken in the last year and a half of his life. A celebration of Ken's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Forever in our thoughts. Rest in Peace.   • Ken was a great athlete as evidenced by his baseball and hockey teams being inducted into their respective Halls of Fame. More importantly Ken was such a fine person! I admired him as an individual long before becoming his teammate on baseball teams. We long ago forgave Ken for coming into our Fort Rouge neighborhood and leaving with one of our prizes....Shirley Brennan!
