JAMES BRUCE WARREN It is with sadness that we announce that our dad, James "Bruce" Warren, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2018 in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. He was born December 18, 1926 in Eriksdale, Manitoba. He married his beloved Helen, December 18, 1947. She preceded him in death in 2014. He never stopped loving and missing her. He was predeceased by all 10 of his siblings, and his beloved daughter Elaine in infancy. Bruce worked for the CN Railway from the age of 17 until his retirement at 60. During his career he worked in Winnipeg, Regina, Prince Albert, Melville, The Pas, Thunder Bay and ending back in Winnipeg. After his retirement, he worked as a railway safety inspector for the federal government for five years. Dad and Mom loved to travel and spent their retirement years in the southern states, settling in Weslaco, Texas as a snowbird for many years. They travelled together throughout Canada. Dad spent his final years in Heatherton, NS. As a young man, Dad loved to hunt, but in his later years he preferred to use a camera. One of his biggest passions was coin collecting, which he loved to package and send to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a great sense of humour and his laugh will be remembered by all. He connected easily with strangers and was known and liked by the many people he encountered here in Antigonish. He is survived by his children, Bruce (Robin) Calgary, AB, James (Valerie), Saskatoon, SK, Kim Macdonald (Lewis), Heatherton, NS, Lori Jacobson (Kelly) Nanaimo, BC, and Theresa Turner (Wes) Cochrane, AB. Dad had 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He will be loved and missed by all of us. The family would like to thank Dr. Maude MacInnis, the VON, and Antigonish Homemakers for their loving care of our dad. Very special thanks to his Nova Scotia family that ensured Dad's last years were filled with family and love. A service will be held in the spring in Winnipeg. Please send an email to jbwarren.service@gmail.com if you wish to be notified of the details.
