Born: Aug 29, 1940
Date of Passing: Jan 23, 2018
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJACQUELINE (JACKY) JESSIE RYAN (nee BARNES) August 29, 1940 - January 23, 2018 The family of Jacky - beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, sadly announce her passing at the age of 77. Jacky was predeceased by her dearly loved granddaughter Shalisa (Suni) Ryan. She will be deeply missed by her sisters Rose (Ken) Small, Palma (Bernie) Blieske and Marilyne (Ken) Hauser; children Kathleen (Doug) Low, John (Cathy) Ryan and Jeff Ryan (Yvette); grandchildren Douglas Low, Ashley (Josh) Doherty, Kelleigh Ryan (Jaden) and Caitlin Ryan (Corey); great-grandchildren Isaiah, Logan and Connor Doherty; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mom was always 17½ at heart. She stayed active by walking her furry companions Max and Chip, attending aquacise and taking up karate later in life. She liked to spend her time reading, knitting, solving crosswords, watching movies, and travelling. But she especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends. With elegant handwriting, Mom recorded her daily activities in her journals. As per Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. We wish to thank the staff of Concordia Hospital 3-West for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Jacky to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. We will miss you, Mom. Rest knowing you are loved. Cheers!

Jackie was a very special lady and I will forever hold some very fond memories of her in my heart. From babysitting for her, cutting her hair, and then she found me my first office job, having coffee or to just saying hi when our paths crossed. She always was so full on energy. I was very sad to hear of her passing. My deepest sympathy to her family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. - Posted by: Debbie Head (Friend) on: Jan 29, 2018

I remember spending a few summers with the Ryan family as I was from Calgary. Jacky, my Aunt, was a high energy mother who loved to laugh. She treated me just like one of her own children, those memories will always be with me. She crowned me with the name of Irving when I had done something not so smart, such as explaining how I can toss the jar of Peanut butter around, up in the air, with no worries about the jar breaking because of the new packaging, no more glass, plastic has arrived! To validate my claim, I dropped the fairly new jar, from counter height to the floor. Well the jar cracked open! She did not yell at me, but I earned the tag of Irving. Later in my life, her and her husband at the time, took me in, gave me a place to live in their home with the family. She cared for all of her family with great love and witty sarcasm in the name of humour. She was passionate about learning things that were of interest to her, she learned new languages in preparation for some of her travels, she took a motorcycle riding course and bought a motorcycle, when she was interested in something, she conquered it. I raise my glass in honour of my Aunt, my friend, and all of my great memories, "Cheers" You are immortal in all of our hearts! - Posted by: Scott Thomson (Nephew ) on: Jan 27, 2018
