STEFAN BYRON September 14, 1936 January 29, 2018 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Stefan at his home in Oak Point, MB with his loving wife by his side. Stefan was born and raised in Oak Point and later moved back to raise his family there. At the age of 16, Stefan started working with his dad fishing on Lake Manitoba and doing construction. Other jobs included working at CNR and CP Rail, Comstock and farming, then retired with Versatile Farm Equipment after 26 years of service. During his retirement he enjoyed keeping up his yard, finding a fix for whatever might be broken, painting his tools red and making carousels which were his pride and joy. His carousels can be found in several yards throughout the Interlake and he also won a red ribbon at the Lundar Fair for his work. Stefan was always willing to give a helping hand. He especially enjoyed working on projects with his sons and son-in-law. Stefan also enjoyed just sitting outside and listening to music and watching the birds. He loved his family very much and enjoyed the many get-togethers. He loved to watch his grandchildren playing baseball, hockey and their many other activities. He always looked forward to attending their next event. He is survived by his loving wife Joyce of 58 years; four sons, Rick and David of Winnipeg, MB, Ron and wife Penny of St Laurent, MB, Glenn and wife Kim of Oak Point, MB and daughter Julie and husband Wayne of Woodlands, MB; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Rothwell of Warren, MB and Hellen (Punch) Byron of Salmon Arm, BC; one brother Fred and wife Lois of Lac du Bonnet, MB; two brothers-in-law, Ross McLeod and wife Myrna of Stewiacke, NS and Eric Lally and wife Elaine of Warren, MB; one sister-in-law Sam Rothwell of Winnipeg, MB as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Stefan was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Dorothy Byron; inlaws, Leo and Maria Lally, Ed Lally, Ed Rothwell and Gail McLeod. A Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Oak Point Community Hall. A private family burial will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oak Point Community Hall, PO Box 113, Oak Point, MB R0C 2J0. For nothing loved is ever lost And he was loved so much.
