DAVID WEAVER September 4, 1931 - January 25, 2018 It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of David Weaver, our beloved brother and uncle. Dave bid farewell to us, peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the age of 86. Dave was predeceased by his mother Marie, father Orland, brother Robert who died in the Second World War at the age of 21, sister Violet, brother George and brother James (Jim). He is survived by his brother Bill (Pat), sister Gloria Sech, as well as his many nephews and nieces. Dave will also be greatly missed by his good friend Robert Boule. Dave spent his early years growing up in Fort Rouge. He worked very hard as a fur coat cleaner to put himself through the University of Manitoba and obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. After receiving his degree, Dave moved to Ontario where he practiced as a Pharmacist at St. Thomas Hospital until 1967. He returned to Winnipeg in 1967 and continued to practice as a Pharmacist until his retirement. Although Dave neither married nor had children, his family was always a major part of his life. Dave's true passion in life was Genealogy. Upon retiring, Dave spent endless hours at the Winnipeg Public libraries researching our family ancestry. His passion took him far east and west to visit, gather, and share family history and memorable stories with his relatives. Dave was a frugal individual, however when it came to family he was extremely generous. There were countless times when Dave would do whatever needed to be done to help a family member who was in need. His heart was as big as all of outdoors. Speaking of which, Dave had a great love of the outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed his many camping trips. Dave had a driver's license and kept it current until his passing, but he was not one for driving a vehicle. His preferred method of transportation was his bicycle. Dave lived in St. Boniface and it was not unusual for him to jump on his bike and ride over to the north or east corner of the city to pick up some groceries or visit with family. Dave had both an incredible wit and a delightful dry sense of humour. A simple grin or a rare smile and you knew that you were the brunt of his teasing or one of his jokes. Dave was a quiet, peaceful and humble man with great intellect. Spending time with Dave was exactly what the pharmacist prescribed. We dream of the day that we will be able to spend time with him again. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at St. Ignatius Church at a later date.
